MOVERS AND PACKERS IN DUBAI – RELOCATION, DISMANTLING AND STORAGE

Movers and packers in Dubai for homes and offices, run by a fit-out contractor that has been dismantling and rebuilding joinery since 1984 – so the wardrobes, kitchens and built-in units come apart properly and go back together properly.

Movers and packers in Dubai covers packing, dismantling, loading, transport, unloading, reassembly and placement, with storage if the new place is not ready. As movers and packers in Dubai, Abdulla Carpentry EST moves homes and offices across the city from the Ras Al Khor workshop, and because we are a fit-out company first, our own carpenters handle the built-in kitchens, wardrobes and joinery that general movers leave alone.

A studio or one-bedroom apartment runs AED 900 to 2,200, a two-bedroom AED 2,000 to 3,600, a three to four-bedroom villa AED 4,500 to 9,000, and office relocation AED 250 to 650 per workstation. Storage is AED 45 to 110 per cubic metre per month.

01 / Who we are

MOVERS AND PACKERS DUBAI

Search for packers and movers near me and you get a list of man-and-van outfits with no address and no licence. We are a different proposition: a licensed Dubai contractor with a workshop, a trade licence and forty years of taking furniture apart and putting it back together. Movers and packers in Dubai is not a separate business for us, it is the first and last day of a fit-out.

That matters more than it sounds when you are choosing between movers and packers in Dubai. Most damage on a move happens to the things a general crew is not equipped for – a fitted wardrobe forced off the wall, a stone worktop lifted flat instead of on edge, a bed frame reassembled with the wrong screws. Our movers are carpenters and handymen, not only lifters, so a professional moving company that can also rebuild what it dismantles saves you a second trade.

We work across Dubai Marina, Downtown, Business Bay, JVC, JLT, Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches, Damac Hills, Mirdif, Deira and Al Quoz, and run inter-emirate jobs from the same base. Free site survey and a written moving quotation are offered on most jobs inside Dubai, and a video survey over WhatsApp is usually enough for an apartment – please confirm the current scope with our office before you count on it.

02 / Homes

HOUSE AND VILLA MOVING

Most movers and packers in Dubai work to one template; we do not. House movers, villa movers and apartment movers are the same crew with a different truck size. A studio or one-bedroom move is a 3-ton closed truck and a half-day; a two to three-bedroom apartment is a 7-ton and a full day; a villa is a 10-ton, sometimes two, and often runs over two days so the packing and the lifting are not rushed into one.

Local moving inside Dubai is straightforward once access is sorted, which is where movers and packers in Dubai earn their fee. What slows a home relocation down is almost never the furniture – it is the service lift that was not booked, the loading bay that is occupied, or the security desk that wants a gate pass nobody applied for. We handle that paperwork as part of the job rather than discovering it on the morning.

Closed trucks are standard on everything we move, because an open bed in a Dubai summer means dust in every soft furnishing you own. Blankets go over polished timber, corners get foam, and mattresses go in covers rather than straight onto a truck floor.

03 / Offices

OFFICE RELOCATION

Movers and packers in Dubai working on offices run to a different clock. An office shifting job is priced per workstation rather than per truck because that is the unit the client actually counts, and the whole point is that Monday morning works. We label every desk, chair and pedestal to a floor plan agreed beforehand, so nothing arrives at the new address without a place to go.

Workstation dismantling and reinstallation is the part we are best at, since partition systems and bench desking are joinery by another name. Screens, cable trays, monitor arms and pedestals come off in sequence and go back in the same sequence at the other end.

IT and server relocation is handled with the client’s own IT team or provider: we pack, move and set the hardware back on the desks, and they do the shutdown, the rack work and the power-up. We do not touch live network configuration, and we say so plainly rather than promising something outside our licence. Most office moves run on a Friday or overnight so no working day is lost.

04 / Dismantling

FURNITURE DISMANTLING AND REASSEMBLY

Most movers and packers in Dubai only lift, and will tell you a wardrobe does not come apart. It usually does. Furniture dismantling and furniture assembly are carpentry, and that is the trade this company was built on – bed and wardrobe dismantling, bunk beds, sofa legs and feet, extending dining tables, bookcases and flat-pack units all come down and go back up.

Every fixing is bagged and taped to the piece it came from, which is the single habit that separates a reassembly that works from one where three screws are missing. Cam locks and dowels on flat-pack are the weak point: they fail on the second or third dismantle, so we carry replacements rather than forcing the old ones back in.

IKEA assembly and other flat-pack builds are quoted on their own if you are only buying that – no move needed. Older solid-timber pieces that have loosened over the years can be re-glued and cramped in the workshop while the rest of the move runs, which is often cheaper than replacing them. See the joinery page for that side of the work.

05 / Built-in units

KITCHEN AND WARDROBE RELOCATION

Kitchen dismantling and reinstallation is the job almost no movers and packers in Dubai will quote, and the one we get called for most. A fitted kitchen can be taken off the wall in units, the carcasses kept intact, the worktop lifted out and the whole set rebuilt in a new property – as long as the new wall layout allows it, which is the first thing we check on survey.

Wardrobe dismantling and reassembly follows the same rule. A built-in wardrobe with a scribed filler against a wall will need new fillers at the other end; the carcasses, doors, rails and drawers travel fine. Built-in furniture relocation and joinery relocation are priced per unit, not per truck, because the labour is in the taking apart.

Be honest with yourself about whether it is worth it. A chipboard carcass that was fitted ten years ago may not survive a second installation, and we will say so on the survey rather than take the fee and hand you a pile of damaged panels. Where it is not worth moving, new joinery usually costs less than you expect.

Appliances come off the services by the relevant trade – our own plumbers and electricians disconnect and reconnect sinks, hobs, ovens and washing machines, so there is no gap between the movers leaving and the kitchen working.

How we work

HOW A MOVE RUNS

Movers and packers in Dubai should follow a published sequence. Every move of ours follows the same five steps, from a studio to a full office floor.

1

Survey and quoting

We survey the property then set a price in writing.

2

Access and permits

Lift booking, gate passes and permits are arranged.

3

Packing and labels

Everything is wrapped, boxed and labelled by rooms.

4

Load and transport

Goods are loaded, strapped and sent in closed vans.

5

Reassemble on site

Furniture is rebuilt, placed and the boxes removed.

Step two is the one people forget. A building NOC, a move permit, a community gate pass and an elevator booking are all separate pieces of paper, and Emaar, Nakheel and Damac each have their own move-in rules about hours, lift padding and which entrance you use. Most buildings also want a security deposit against damage to the common areas, refunded after an inspection. We prepare and lodge those applications, but the landlord or owner has to sign and the deposit is paid by the resident – we cannot do either on your behalf.

Same-day movers, weekend moving and early morning slots are all possible subject to crew availability and the building’s own access hours; please confirm the slot with our office rather than assuming it. On insured moving, we carry trained movers under a supervisor on every job and goods-in-transit cover can be arranged for the load – ask us for the current certificate and limits before you book, and declare anything genuinely high-value so it is listed.

06 / Packing

PACKING, UNPACKING AND STORAGE

Packing is where most movers and packers in Dubai make their margin, so it pays to know what you are buying. Packing services can be full, partial or materials-only. Full packing means we bring the boxes and bubble wrap and pack the whole property; partial usually means you do books, clothes and kitchen cupboards and we do the fragile item packing. Materials-only is boxes, tape and wrap delivered a week ahead so you can start in your own time.

Artwork and mirror packing goes in flat corrugated or a made-up crate with corner protection, never loose in a van. TV packing is best in the original carton if you kept it; if not, we build a flat pack around the screen with foam on the corners, and the set travels upright rather than flat. Marble tops, glass shelves and framed pieces all travel on edge for the same reason.

Unpacking is a separate line and worth taking on a big move. Furniture placement to your plan, beds made up, boxes opened into cupboards rather than stacked in the hall, and debris and box removal the same day or the day after – flattened cartons taken away rather than left filling your new living room.

Storage services cover short-term storage between a handover and a move-in, and longer-term furniture storage during renovation. It is priced per cubic metre per month, so a sensible pack saves real money. Everything is inventoried and photographed in, and you get the list.

07 / Renovation

MOVING BEFORE AND AFTER RENOVATION

Moving during renovation is a job in its own right, and one most movers and packers in Dubai handle badly and the reason this service exists alongside the rest of our trades. Clearing the apartment before fit-out means getting furniture out of the way of the contractor without paying to send it across the city twice – sometimes to storage, sometimes into one sealed room, sometimes just shifted room to room as the work moves through the property.

Furniture shifting within the home and room-to-room moving is charged by the hour with a small crew, not as a full move. On a phased renovation we will come back two or three times as rooms are finished, so the family keeps living in the property while the work goes on around them.

If we are doing the renovation as well, this is co-ordinated rather than quoted separately – the clear-out is the first line on the programme and the move-back is the last. Move-in and move-out painting and move-out cleaning for handover readiness sit in the same window; see the painting page for the decoration side.

08 / Inter-emirate

INTER-EMIRATE MOVING (DUBAI, ABU DHABI, SHARJAH)

Villa to villa inside one community is a short day for movers and packers in Dubai. Apartment to villa across the city is a long one. Dubai to Abu Dhabi movers, Dubai to Sharjah movers and Dubai to Al Ain runs are priced with an uplift on the base move rather than as a separate service, because the packing and the handling are identical – only the drive changes.

Palletised and shrink-wrapped goods loaded into containers for an inter-emirate move
Goods palletised and wrapped for a long-distance move between emirates

Long-distance moving in the UAE is mostly about timing. An Abu Dhabi run means an early start to clear the Dubai traffic and still arrive inside the receiving building’s allowed hours, which are often stricter than Dubai’s. We confirm both ends’ access windows before the date is fixed, not on the day.

Heavy and awkward items travel on the same trucks. Piano movers, safe movers, gym equipment movers and appliance movers are the same crew with more hands, a stair-climbing trolley and proper straps. Fridge and washing machine moving needs a drum lock or transit bolts on the machine and a few hours upright before it is switched on at the other end, which we will remind you about rather than assume you know.

09 / Commercial

COMMERCIAL AND SHOP RELOCATION

Commercial work asks more of movers and packers in Dubai. Shop relocation and showroom moving are driven by trading hours. The shopfitting comes down after close, the stock and fixtures move overnight, and the new unit is set up before the mall opens. Display units and shelving are dismantled rather than dragged, and the fixing packs go with them.

Clinic relocation and salon relocation bring their own rules. Treatment chairs, basins and backwash units are plumbed and wired in, so the disconnection and reconnection go through our own MEP trades on the same visit. Sensitive or licensed medical equipment is moved by its own supplier or service agent, and we move everything around it – we will not take responsibility for calibration we cannot certify.

Warehouse shifting is a racking job before it is a moving job. Pallet racking comes down in bays, beams and uprights are bundled by size, and the new layout is set out and re-erected before stock arrives. Inventory moves on pallets, shrink-wrapped and labelled by location rather than loose in cartons.

Handyman services after moving close the gap at either end: curtain and TV mounting, picture hanging, shelf fixing and minor repairs, charged by the hour. It is the cheapest hour on the whole move and the one that makes the new place feel finished.

10 / Budget

MOVING COST IN DUBAI

The cost of movers and packers in Dubai comes down to volume, access and how much packing you hand over. Moving price per truck is the usual unit on a home move and moving price per hour on a small shift; a 1-bedroom moving cost and a villa moving cost sit far apart because of the truck size and the crew hours, not the distance. Office relocation cost is quoted per workstation.

Item Unit Typical range
Studio or one-bedroom apartment per move AED 900 – 2,200
Two-bedroom apartment per move AED 2,000 – 3,600
Three-bedroom apartment per move AED 3,000 – 5,500
Villa, three to four bedrooms per move AED 4,500 – 9,000
Villa, five bedrooms or more per move AED 8,000 – 16,000
Office relocation per workstation AED 250 – 650
Full packing service, uplift per move AED 500 – 3,500
Fitted wardrobe, dismantle and reinstall each AED 450 – 1,600
Television bracket, remove and refit each AED 180 – 450
Curtain track, remove and refit per linear m AED 90 – 220
Storage, per cubic metre per month per month AED 45 – 110
Move to another emirate, uplift per move AED 500 – 2,500
Handyman fixing on arrival per hour AED 120 – 220

Figures are for moves inside Dubai and exclude VAT. They assume normal working hours, a working service lift and parking within reasonable carrying distance. A high floor with no lift, a long carry from the loading bay, out-of-hours access or a crane lift for oversized pieces are priced separately and shown as their own lines on the quotation.

Questions

MOVERS AND PACKERS IN DUBAI: 12 BEST EXPERT ANSWERS

How much do movers and packers cost in Dubai?

A studio or one-bedroom apartment is AED 900 to 2,200, a two-bedroom AED 2,000 to 3,600, a three-bedroom AED 3,000 to 5,500, and a three to four-bedroom villa AED 4,500 to 9,000. Office relocation is AED 250 to 650 per workstation. Full packing adds AED 500 to 3,500 depending on the property. Those figures assume working hours, a working service lift and parking near the entrance; a high floor without a lift or a long carry is priced on top.

Do I need a NOC or permit to move in or out of my building?

Almost always, yes. Most Dubai buildings and gated communities want a move-in or move-out NOC from the landlord or owners association, a gate pass for the truck and crew, and a booked service lift slot. Many also hold a refundable deposit against damage to the common areas. We prepare and lodge the applications as part of the job, but the landlord or owner has to sign the NOC and the deposit is paid by the resident.

Can you dismantle and reinstall built-in kitchens and wardrobes?

Yes, and it is the thing that sets us apart from a general moving company in Dubai. Our own carpenters take fitted kitchens off the wall in units, lift out the worktop and rebuild the set in the new property, and do the same with built-in wardrobes. Whether it is worth moving depends on the carcass: a chipboard unit fitted ten years ago may not survive a second installation, and we will tell you that on the survey.

Do you provide storage while my home is being renovated?

Yes. Furniture storage during renovation is one of the commonest reasons people call us, and it is priced per cubic metre per month at AED 45 to 110. Everything is wrapped, inventoried and photographed on the way in, and you get the list. We can also deliver back in stages as rooms are finished rather than returning the whole load in one day.

How much notice do you need to book a move?

A week is comfortable for an apartment and two weeks for a villa, mainly because the building paperwork and the lift booking take time rather than the crew. Month ends, weekends and the days either side of a public holiday fill first. Same-day and next-day moves are sometimes possible on a small load, but confirm with our office rather than assuming the slot is there.

Do you supply boxes and packing materials?

Yes. Boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, furniture blankets, mattress covers and tape can be delivered a week before the move if you want to pack yourself, or we bring them on the day for a full packing service. Specialist cartons for televisions, artwork and mirrors are made up to size. Unused boxes delivered in advance are taken back and credited.

Will you move a piano, safe or gym equipment?

Yes, with the right crew and kit. Pianos, safes, treadmills, multi-gyms and large appliances are moved on stair-climbing trolleys with proper straps and extra hands, and we need to know about them at survey so the right team and equipment are booked. An upright piano in a lift is routine; a grand piano down a narrow staircase is a planned operation, not something to spring on the crew.

Are my things insured while they are being moved?

Every job runs with trained movers under a named supervisor, and goods-in-transit cover can be arranged for the load. Ask us for the current certificate and the limits before you book, and declare anything genuinely high-value so it is listed rather than discovered after the fact. Cover does not extend to items you packed yourself where the carton shows no external damage.

Can you move me from Dubai to Abu Dhabi or Sharjah?

Yes. Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Dubai to Sharjah and Dubai to Al Ain runs are quoted as the base move plus an uplift of AED 500 to 2,500 depending on distance and crew hours. The packing and handling are identical; what changes is the drive and the timing, since receiving buildings outside Dubai often have stricter access hours. We confirm both ends before fixing the date.

Do you do office moves at the weekend or overnight?

Yes, and most office relocations are done that way so no trading day is lost. A Friday or an overnight shift lets us strip the old floor, move, and set the new one up before staff return. Out-of-hours access usually needs the building’s approval and sometimes a security escort on both sides, which we arrange as part of the booking.

Will you reconnect the washing machine, oven and TV?

Yes. Our own plumbers and electricians disconnect and reconnect sinks, hobs, ovens and washing machines, and the handyman crew mounts televisions, refits curtain tracks and hangs pictures at AED 120 to 220 per hour. A washing machine needs its transit bolts fitted before it travels and a few hours standing upright before it is switched on, which we will remind you about.

Which areas of Dubai do you cover?

All of it, from the Ras Al Khor base – Dubai Marina, Downtown, Business Bay, JVC, JLT, Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches, Damac Hills, Mirdif, Deira and Al Quoz among them. Movers and packers in Dubai is our home ground, and we run inter-emirate jobs to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain from the same yard. Send a video walk-through on WhatsApp for an indicative figure.
