Exhibition fit-out in Dubai, built twice, installed overnight
Custom exhibition stands, modular systems, showrooms and pop-up builds — pre-assembled and checked in our workshop, then installed inside a venue build-up window that does not move.
What an exhibition fit-out involves and what it costs
An exhibition fit-out in Dubai covers stand design and venue approval, structure and flooring, walls and joinery, graphics and signage, lighting, power and data, AV, storage and meeting areas, then installation during the build-up window and dismantling afterwards. Expect AED 1,800 to 3,500 per square metre for a modular or shell-scheme upgrade and AED 3,500 to 9,000 per square metre for a custom double-decker or bespoke build. Abdulla Carpentry EST pre-assembles every stand in its workshop before it goes near the hall.
An exhibition stand is built twice. Once in the workshop, completely, with every panel fitted, every graphic hung, every light aimed and every joint checked — and once in the hall, at night, against a clock. If the first build has not happened, the second one becomes an improvisation with a deadline, and that is how stands open unfinished.
The build-up window at Dubai venues is short and rigidly enforced: a fixed number of days, with power connected on a scheduled day, rigging done by the venue’s appointed contractor, and everything off the floor by the time the show opens. There is no possibility of an extra day. So the stand arrives as pre-finished components that bolt together, not as material to be cut on site.
The third fact is that a stand is temporary, and the whole build should be designed for it — components that break down into transportable and storable pieces, finishes that survive handling, graphics that can be changed for the next show, and a structure that can be reused across several exhibitions rather than skipped after one.

Stand types and what goes into them
The stand type is decided by the space you have booked, the budget, and whether the structure will be used again.
Shell scheme upgrades. The venue supplies a basic walled booth; we make it look like a brand rather than a cubicle — graphic wall panels, flooring, lighting, a counter, display and storage. The most cost-effective option for a small stand.
Custom space-only stands. A full build on bare floor: structure, walls, ceiling or rigging, flooring, joinery, graphics, lighting and AV. Open on one, two, three or four sides, with the layout designed around how visitors will approach and move through it.
Double-decker stands. A second storey for meetings and hospitality above the display floor, which doubles usable area on a premium footprint. Structurally engineered, certified and approved by the venue, and the item with the longest approval lead time.

Display, counters and storage. Product plinths, vitrines and shelving, a reception or demonstration counter, and a lockable store — which every stand needs and half of them forget, leaving boxes visible behind a curtain.
Graphics, signage and branding. Large-format printed panels, fabric tension graphics, 3D lettering and illuminated signage, colour-matched to the brand and produced so the next show only needs the graphics reprinted. See signage works.
Lighting, power, data and AV. Accent lighting on the product, general lighting at an appropriate level for the hall, ordered power at the right rating, hard-wired data, and screens and sound integrated into the joinery rather than bolted on.

Approvals, build-up and the things venues enforce
Every Dubai exhibition venue publishes an exhibitor manual, and it governs the build far more tightly than a mall fit-out manual governs a shop. Maximum stand height, setbacks from the aisle, the treatment required on any wall facing a neighbour, rigging rules, permitted materials and their fire ratings, floor loading, and the deadline by which stand drawings must be submitted for approval.
Structural stands — anything double-decker, anything with a suspended ceiling or rigging, anything over the standard height limit — need engineering calculations and a stamped submission, and those take weeks. A stand designed without checking the height limit is the classic and entirely avoidable failure.
The build-up window is the other fixed point. Typically two to four days for a custom build, with an ordered sequence: floor marking, structure, services connection on the venue’s schedule, then finishes, graphics and dressing. Power is connected when the venue connects it, not when you are ready. Nothing can overrun into show open.
Breakdown is equally strict, usually immediately after the show closes and overnight, with the space returned empty. We plan for storage and reuse at that point, so the structure goes back to the workshop rather than into a skip.

How an exhibition stand is delivered
Brief, space and manual
We start from the booked space — size, open sides, aisle position and neighbours — and the exhibitor manual. The height limit, rigging rules and submission deadline shape the design before anything is drawn.
Design and 3D visuals
Stand design presented as 3D views from the actual approach angles visitors will use, with the display, meeting and storage areas planned around how people move through the space.
Venue approval
Drawings, structural calculations where required, material fire certificates and service orders submitted to the venue within the deadline, and revisions handled through to approval.
Workshop build and dry assembly
The stand is fully built and assembled in our workshop — panels fitted, graphics hung, lights aimed, AV tested — then photographed, marked up, dismantled and packed in installation order.
Installation, show support and breakdown
Installed within the build-up window in the planned sequence, dressed and handed over before show open, supported during the show, then dismantled and returned to storage for reuse.

A reusable structure costs more the first time and much less afterwards — for a company exhibiting three or four times a year, only the graphics and the layout change between shows, which typically halves the cost from the second event onwards.
Making a stand that people walk into
Visitors decide whether to enter a stand in about two seconds, from the aisle, while walking. That means the message has to be legible at distance and at speed — a few large words rather than a paragraph, and a headline high enough to be seen over the crowd.
Open stands outperform enclosed ones. A wall of graphics facing the aisle looks impressive in a render and reads as a barrier in person. Keeping the front open, with the product visible and staff standing at the edge rather than behind a counter, measurably increases how many people step on.
And plan the meeting space and the storage properly. Conversations that matter need somewhere to sit slightly away from the aisle noise, and every stand accumulates boxes, coats, literature and bags. A lockable store of even a square metre is the difference between a stand that looks tidy on day three and one that does not.

Exhibition fit-out: common questions
How much does an exhibition stand cost in Dubai?
AED 900 to 1,800 per square metre for a shell scheme upgrade, AED 1,800 to 3,500 for a modular custom stand, AED 3,500 to 6,500 for a fully custom build, and AED 5,500 to 9,000 for a double-decker.
How far ahead should I book the build?
Eight to twelve weeks for a custom stand, and longer for a double-decker because the structural approval takes weeks on its own. Venue drawing submission deadlines usually fall four to six weeks before build-up.
How long is the build-up window?
Typically two to four days for a custom stand, with services connected on the venue’s own schedule rather than yours. Nothing can overrun into show open, which is why we fully assemble the stand in the workshop first.
Why assemble the stand in the workshop first?
Because everything that can go wrong — a panel that does not fit, a graphic printed at the wrong size, a light that fouls a beam — is found in the workshop where there is time to fix it, rather than in the hall at two in the morning.
Can the stand be reused at the next show?
Yes, and it should be if you exhibit regularly. We design the structure to break down, transport and store, so subsequent shows usually need only new graphics and a layout adjustment — typically around half the original cost.
Do you handle the venue approvals?
Yes — stand drawings, structural calculations where the design requires them, material fire certificates and the service orders, submitted within the venue deadline and carried through to approval.
What makes visitors walk onto a stand?
Legibility at distance and an open front. A few large words readable over a crowd, product visible from the aisle, and staff standing at the edge rather than behind a counter. Enclosed stands with a graphic wall facing the aisle perform worse.
Do you store the stand between exhibitions?
Yes, in our own facility, marked up and packed in installation order so the next build starts from a known condition rather than from a pile of panels.
Send your stand size and the exhibitor manual
The booked space, the open sides and the venue rules are enough for us to come back with a design, a build-up plan and a price — and to flag any height or rigging issue early.
