Fluted work is the busiest corner of our wall panelling in Dubai. Fluted wall panels are the most requested thing we make. Slat wall panels and wood slat panels are the other half of this. Timber is where wall panelling in Dubai earns its money. Wood wall panelling divides into two trades. Veneer wall panels are a thin leaf of real timber pressed onto a stable board, and the craft is in the sequencing — book-matched oak panelling or walnut panelling across a long wall only looks right if the leaves were laid out as one picture before anyone cut. MDF panelling painted or lacquered is the cheaper route and, on a moulded design, often the better one.

Solid wood is used where the panel gets touched or takes a shadow gap edge. We machine the profiles ourselves, so a handrail return, a reveal or a bullnose is cut from the same board as the panel around it and the grain carries through. Shadow gaps are set out to the panel module, not left to fall where the boards happen to land.

Not all wall panelling in Dubai has to read modern. Wainscoting Dubai apartments suit better than people expect. Shaker panels, board and batten and picture frame moulding all work off the same idea — a flat field with applied beading — and the difference is proportion. We set the chair rail off the room height rather than a default 900 mm, and the panel widths off the wall length, so the last panel is the same width as the first.

Decorative moulding is mitred, glued and pinned, then filled, sanded and sprayed as one surface. Done properly there is no joint line to find. Skirting, chair rail and cornice are all machined to match, and colour matching to an existing paint is done from a sample, not from a fan deck guess.

A television wall is the most requested single piece of wall panelling in Dubai, and the job that goes wrong most often, and it is almost always the services. A TV feature wall needs the bracket position, the socket, the HDMI and the data run set out before the battens go on, with conduit left so a cable can be pulled through in three years without opening the panel. Geometric wall panels, charcoal panels and louvre panels all suit a feature wall where a flat painted surface would read as unfinished. Panelling with LED lighting is a separate calculation again: backlit panels need the strip set far enough behind the face to avoid hot spots, and integrated lighting needs the driver somewhere a person can reach it.

Bedrooms are the quietest win in wall panelling in Dubai. Bedroom wall panelling is usually a headboard wall rather than the whole room. Behind-bed panels are set out to the bed width plus a margin each side, taken full height, and stopped clean at the cornice. An accent wall in fluted or slat timber changes a bedroom more than any other single job, and it does it without touching the floor, the ceiling or the wardrobes.

Hallway, staircase and corridor wall panelling is the same construction applied to a harder-wearing place. Corridors take knocks, so we run a solid rail at trolley height in commercial work and specify an impact-resistant board rather than standard MDF where bags and furniture will hit it.

Soft finishes are the least expected part of wall panelling in Dubai. Upholstered panels are built as a frame, a foam layer and a stretched cover, then fixed with concealed clips so the wall can be taken down without cutting the fabric. Fabric panels soften a room acoustically as well as visually; leather panels and a padded headboard wall do the same and take fingerprints far better. All of this is made on the same benches as our upholstery services in Dubai, so the cover on a headboard wall can be matched to the sofa in front of it.

Fabric is specified for the room, not the picture. Bedrooms take a soft weave; corridors and clinics take a high rub-count or a wipeable faux leather; anything near a window gets a lightfast fabric or it goes patchy on the sunlit half within two summers.

Marble wall panels and stone-look panels are the heavy end of wall panelling in Dubai. Real stone needs a mechanical fixing system and a wall that can carry it; large-format porcelain gives the same face for a fraction of the weight and is what we usually recommend above head height. Either way the setting out starts from the vein direction, because a book-matched slab hung the wrong way round cannot be corrected afterwards.

PVC wall panels, WPC panels and laminate wall panels are the practical choices for wet and high-traffic areas. They are waterproof, they wipe clean, and they go over existing tiles without a strip-out. They will never read as timber up close, and we say so before you buy them rather than after.

Commercial wall panelling in Dubai is judged on wear before looks. Reception wall panelling is the first thing a visitor reads, so it carries the brand and takes the abuse. An office feature wall is usually a veneer or slat field with a logo lit off a reveal; restaurant wall panels have to survive cleaning chemicals and a fire-rating check; retail wall cladding has to take fixings for a display system that will change every season.

Building management approval matters in apartments and towers. For a fit-out in a managed building we prepare and submit the drawing pack — panel layout, fixing detail and material certificates — so the work can start without a stop notice. Fire performance on the board and the finish is the item the approving engineer looks at first.

Panelling finishes decide how wall panelling in Dubai ages. PU lacquer sprayed in the workshop is harder than anything brushed on site and is what we use on fluted and veneer work. Matte painted panels are sprayed in the same booth and touched in on site only at the fixings. Colour matching is done from a physical sample against the panel under the room’s own lighting.

Wall preparation is half the result. Removal of old panels, taking wallpaper to panelling, packing out a bowed wall and sealing the substrate all happen before a panel arrives. Moisture-resistant panels are specified for bathrooms and kitchens — MR-MDF, WPC or PVC — because standard MDF in a shower room will swell at the bottom edge inside a year.

Acoustic wall panelling in Dubai and soundproof panelling are two different problems. Absorption takes the echo out of a room and is what a home theatre, a meeting room or a podcast corner actually needs. Blocking sound between rooms is a partition job, not a panelling job, and anyone who tells you a 20 mm felt panel will stop your neighbour is selling you the wrong thing.

We build absorption as a slatted or perforated face over a mineral wool or PET felt core, with an air gap behind it tuned to the frequency that is causing the trouble. For offices we cover enough wall area to bring the reverberation down rather than hanging four decorative squares and calling it acoustic treatment.
