FURNITURE PAINTING DUBAI
Abdulla Carpentry EST provides furniture painting and refinishing services in Dubai: kitchen cabinet repainting and refacing, wardrobe and sliding door respraying, wooden door and panel refinishing, dining table, chair and bed frame restoration, office and reception desk refurbishment, and antique and veneer repair. Finishes include PU lacquer, matte and high-gloss duco paint, wood stain, varnish and French polish, colour-matched to any reference. Loose items are sprayed in our workshop with pick-up and delivery; fixed joinery is painted on site with low-odour systems. Free quotation from WhatsApp photos.
We have run a joinery workshop in Ras Al Khor since 1984, which is the reason our furniture painting services Dubai side start with a carpenter rather than a painter. Before anything is sprayed, somebody who builds furniture looks at the piece and says whether it is worth refinishing. Most of the time it is. Occasionally a chipboard carcass that has swollen with water is past saving, and furniture painters Dubai wide who tell you otherwise are selling you a coat of paint on a failure.
Furniture refinishing, furniture refurbishment and a furniture makeover are three names for the same decision: keep what you own and change how it looks. A solid oak table that has gone grey and ringed, a kitchen that is structurally perfect but the wrong brown, a wardrobe whose carcass is sound and whose fronts are dated — all of these are cheaper to respray than to replace, and the replacement usually arrives in worse timber than the thing you threw away.
Colour matching is done against a physical reference, not a screen. Bring a sample, a door front, a fabric or a paint code and we mix to it, spray a sample panel, and let you see it in your own light before the rest of the job is committed. A white furniture paint that looks right in a workshop can read grey or yellow in a north-facing room.
1984OWN WORKSHOP SINCEWe work across Dubai Marina, Downtown, JVC, Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches, Damac Hills, Springs, Meadows and Mirdif. Loose furniture is collected, sprayed in the workshop and delivered back; fixed joinery such as built-in wardrobes and kitchens is done on site. The pick-up and delivery is included in the quoted price on jobs above a modest minimum, and we tell you which of the two routes we recommend and why at the quoting stage.
Quotations start with photographs. Send pictures on WhatsApp — the whole piece, a close-up of the surface and something showing the edge or the join — and we can usually price it within the day. A free site visit follows for kitchens, fitted wardrobes and anything we cannot judge from a picture, and nothing is collected until you have signed off a written scope. That is how every furniture painting Dubai job we take on begins.
KITCHEN CABINET PAINTING AND REFINISHING
Kitchen cabinet painting is the single most requested job on this page, and the arithmetic is why. A standard kitchen respray runs AED 9,000 to 16,000 against AED 25,000 to 60,000 for a new kitchen of the same size, and the carcasses, hinges and worktop you already have stay where they are. Cabinet repainting only fails when the substrate is wrong, so we check the door material before quoting rather than after.

Doors and drawer fronts are numbered, taken off, degreased, keyed and sprayed flat in the workshop, which is the only way to get a run-free face on a large panel. The carcasses, end panels and plinths are masked and sprayed in situ. A kitchen cabinet makeover done this way takes four to seven working days, and we sequence it so you keep the sink and one run of worktop usable for most of that time.
Cabinet refacing is the other route: new fronts on the existing carcasses. It costs more than a respray and less than a new kitchen, and it is the right answer when the doors themselves are damaged, swollen or a profile you actively dislike. We will price both on the same visit and tell you which one we would choose. Cabinets are the largest share of our furniture painting Dubai work.
MDF PAINTING
Laminate and melamine painting needs edges sealed and keyed first.
LAMINATE FRONTS
Bonding primer over a properly abraded face, never straight onto gloss.
SOLID AND VENEER
Grain filled or left open, depending on whether you want it to read as wood.
HINGE RESET
Every door rehung and adjusted so the gaps line up after the respray.
BEFORE AND AFTER FURNITURE PAINTING
Drag the handle on any of these to see the same piece before and after. These are the four jobs people ask us about most: a display cabinet, an entrance door, a kitchen and a fitted wardrobe. Nothing was replaced in any of them — the carcasses, frames and boxes are the originals.

BeforeAfter
Before and after furniture painting is the only honest way to show this trade, because a finished photograph on its own tells you nothing about what was there first. If you want to see more, we can send recent jobs closest to your own piece on WhatsApp. We keep a before shot of every furniture painting Dubai job for exactly this reason.
WARDROBE AND CLOSET PAINTING
Wardrobe repainting is the cheapest large change you can make to a bedroom. Fronts come off, get sprayed and go back on, and the room reads as new for a fraction of a replacement. Pricing is per door — AED 350 to 750 depending on size, profile and finish — against roughly AED 1,100 per square metre of face for a new wardrobe, so a four-door run is usually a third of the cost.

Sliding door repainting needs the panels out of the track and the track itself cleaned and re-lubricated, because a freshly sprayed panel running in a gritty track picks up damage in the first week. Where the sliders are mirrored or glazed we mask and spray the frame only; where they are framed veneer, veneer repainting is straightforward provided the veneer is sound and has not lifted at the edges.
Walk-in closets and open shelving get sprayed in situ with the contents out and the carpet sheeted. We spray the visible faces and the front edges of shelves, leave the interiors as they are unless you ask otherwise, and put every piece of hanging hardware back where it came from. Bedroom furniture painting Dubai clients ask for is usually wardrobes first.
DOOR AND WOOD PANEL REPAINTING
Wooden door painting is one of those jobs that looks trivial and is not. A door sprayed on its hinges will always show a run somewhere, and a door painted with a brush will always show the brush. We take internal doors off, spray them flat in the workshop for AED 700 to 1,400 each, and paint the frame and architrave in situ for AED 350 to 700 while the door is away.

Door refinishing on solid timber is a different decision from painting it. If the door is oak, walnut or teak and the grain is worth keeping, stripping and re-polishing at AED 180 to 420 per square metre keeps it as wood; painting it white makes it a white door forever, because getting back to bare timber afterwards is more expensive than the original strip. We will say which we think is right and then do what you decide.
Entrance door restoration in Dubai is mostly sun damage. A south or west-facing timber door loses its topcoat in two to four summers, the surface greys, and the joints start to open. Stripped, filled, re-stained and finished with a UV-stable exterior system, the same door usually has another decade in it. We will tell you honestly when a door is too far gone and a replacement is the better spend. Not every piece is worth furniture painting Dubai rates.
TABLE, CHAIR AND SOFA FRAME REFINISHING
Dining table refinishing is the job that most often surprises people. A table that has gone dull, ringed and scratched is almost always a surface problem, not a structural one: the timber under a failed lacquer is usually perfect. Stripped, sanded back, re-stained if you want a different tone and finished in a hard-wearing PU, a dining table runs AED 1,800 to 5,500 depending on size and species.

Chair repainting is priced per chair and gets cheaper in quantity, which matters when a set of eight all need the same treatment. Sofa and armchair frames are sprayed with the upholstery masked or removed depending on the construction; we say which at the survey, because taking a seat pad off a frame that was stapled in the factory is not always reversible. Coffee table restoration and console tops follow the same process as a dining table on a smaller scale.
TV unit and shelving repainting is the quickest win in a living room. A dark wall unit sprayed to match the wall disappears; sprayed in a contrast it becomes the feature. Either way it is a two to four day job and costs AED 1,200 to 4,000 for a typical sideboard or media unit. Living room pieces are the quickest furniture painting Dubai wins we do.
BED, DRESSER AND BEDROOM FURNITURE PAINTING
Bed frame painting and headboard refinishing are usually bought together, because a repainted frame beside an original headboard looks worse than leaving both alone. A frame and headboard together run AED 1,500 to 4,500. Upholstered headboards are re-covered rather than painted, and we will quote that as a separate line rather than pretending paint solves it.

A dresser makeover is the classic case for a colour change. Dark wood to light wood is the most requested direction in Dubai bedrooms, and it is achievable two ways: strip and re-stain if the timber is worth showing, or prime and spray opaque if it is veneer over chipboard and the grain has nothing to offer. Stripping is more work and looks better on real oak or walnut; spraying is cheaper and gives a cleaner modern face.
Bedside tables, blanket boxes and dressing tables are small enough that we usually collect a whole bedroom set at once. Doing a set together is cheaper per piece and, more importantly, guarantees the colour is identical across all of them — which it will not be if you send them in two batches months apart. Batching a bedroom set is the one furniture painting Dubai tip worth following.
OFFICE FURNITURE REFURBISHMENT
Office desk and cabinet refurbishment is judged on downtime, not on price. A floor of workstations that looks tired damages the impression a client forms in the first ten seconds, but taking that floor out of use for a week costs more than the respray. We work nights and weekends on commercial jobs, strip and spray in batches, and hand each batch back before starting the next.

Reception desk refinishing is the highest-value single piece in most offices, and it is usually a solid-surface or veneer top on an MDF body. We spray the body in PU or duco to the brand colour, re-polish or replace the top depending on its condition, and keep the logo wall and lighting masked. A reception counter runs AED 1,500 to 5,000 for the refinishing.
Meeting tables, credenzas, filing cabinets and cubicle panels all take the same systems. For clinics, salons and schools we use low-odour, low-VOC water-based finishes so the space is usable the next morning rather than the next week, and we programme the work around your opening hours rather than ours. Commercial furniture painting Dubai work is almost always out of hours.
SPRAY PAINTING AND PU LACQUER FINISHES
Furniture spray painting is the whole point of a workshop. A spray booth gives you filtered air, controlled temperature and no dust settling into a wet film, which is the difference between a workshop finish and a home-improvement finish. Loose pieces come to Ras Al Khor and go back sprayed; fixed joinery gets a masked and extracted spray set-up on site, which is close but never quite identical, and we say so rather than pretending otherwise.

PU lacquer is our default for anything that gets handled — kitchens, wardrobes, desks, tables — because it is genuinely hard and takes a knock without marking. Matte lacquer hides imperfection and fingerprints and is what most Dubai interiors specify now. A high-gloss finish is the most demanding thing we do: it shows every flaw in the substrate underneath, so it needs more filling, more flatting and more coats, and it is priced accordingly. Duco paint is the smooth opaque colour-matched system people ask for by name for modern fronts.
Eco-friendly and low-odour paints are not a marketing line for us, they are what makes on-site work possible in an occupied flat. Water-based PU has caught up enough that we now use it by default for interiors where people are living or working through the job, and reserve solvent systems for the workshop where extraction handles it. Finish choice is the decision that shapes a furniture painting Dubai quote.
WOOD STAINING, VARNISHING AND POLISHING
Wood stain is how you keep the grain and change the tone. Oak takes stain evenly and predictably; walnut is already dark enough that most work on it is about evening out sun fade rather than changing colour; pine and rubberwood blotch unless they are conditioned first, which is the step most people skip. Going dark wood to light wood means stripping back and often bleaching, and it is more work than going the other way — we price it honestly rather than discovering it halfway through.

Furniture polishing and varnishing are the traditional end of what we do. A varnish finish is tough and practical. French polish is the opposite — a shellac finish built by hand over many sessions, beautiful, repairable and completely unsuitable for a kitchen table because water marks it. We use it on antiques and display pieces and we tell people when they are asking for it on something that will not survive it.
Antique furniture restoration is the slowest work in the shop and the least suitable for a fixed price given in advance. We look at the piece, agree how far to go — conserve the patina, or take it back to new — and quote against that decision. Original finish is only removed when it has failed, because a stripped antique is worth less than a tired one. Restoration is the slowest and most careful furniture painting Dubai work we take.
FURNITURE REPAIR AND RESTORATION
Scratch repair, chip repair and water damage repair are what most single-item enquiries turn out to be. A scratch through the lacquer into timber is filled, grain-matched and spot-finished. A swollen edge on an MDF door where water has got under the laminate cannot be repaired invisibly and we will say so — that door gets replaced or the whole face gets resprayed, which is why we ask for a close-up photo of the edge.
Sun fade restoration is a Dubai speciality. Anything near a window loses colour on one face, and matching a faded piece to an unfaded one is harder than refinishing both. We usually recommend doing the whole set. Veneer repair and refinishing is the same logic: a lifted or bubbled veneer is re-laid and pressed where the sheet survives, and patched with matched veneer where it does not.
Outdoor and garden furniture painting needs a system built for UV and heat, not an indoor lacquer moved outside. Metal furniture painting is a separate preparation — rust cut back to sound metal, etch primer, then a topcoat — and rattan and wicker furniture repainting is sprayed rather than brushed, because no brush reaches into a weave. All three are jobs we take on and all three fail early if the preparation is rushed. Outdoor furniture painting Dubai jobs live or die on preparation.
FURNITURE PAINTING COST IN DUBAI
Furniture painting cost in Dubai is driven by surface area, by how much preparation the piece needs and by the finish you choose. A high-gloss job on a damaged substrate can cost twice a matte job on a sound one. Cabinet painting cost per door and wardrobe painting cost are the two figures people ask for first, so they are in the table, alongside what the same item costs new.

| Item | Typical range | Versus replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen respray, standard size | AED 9,000 – 16,000 | New kitchen AED 25,000 – 60,000 |
| Kitchen respray, large or villa | AED 16,000 – 22,000 | New kitchen AED 60,000 – 120,000 |
| Wardrobe fronts, per door | AED 350 – 750 | New wardrobe from AED 1,100 / sq m face |
| Internal door, sprayed off site | AED 700 – 1,400 | New door with frame AED 2,200 – 6,500 |
| Door frame and architrave, in situ | AED 350 – 700 | — |
| Dining table refinish | AED 1,800 – 5,500 | Depends on size and timber |
| Sideboard or cabinet | AED 1,200 – 4,000 | — |
| Bed frame and headboard | AED 1,500 – 4,500 | — |
| Timber stripping and re-polishing | AED 180 – 420 / sq m | Clear or stained, grain retained |
| Vinyl wrapping, kitchen | AED 5,000 – 14,000 | Faster alternative, different lifespan |
These are guide ranges for planning, not a quotation. Send photos on WhatsApp and we will price your actual piece; for kitchens and fitted wardrobes a free site visit follows. The quotation lists the preparation, the finish system and the number of coats as named lines, so you can compare it fairly against anyone else.
The right-hand column is there deliberately. We would rather you saw the replacement cost next to the refinishing cost and made the decision with both numbers in front of you, including the cases where replacing is the better spend. We would rather lose a furniture painting Dubai job than sell you the wrong one.
HOW OUR FURNITURE PAINTING DUBAI JOBS RUN
SURVEY AND MATCH
A carpenter checks the substrate, the joints and the edges, then matches the colour.
STRIP AND SAND
Old coatings come off, damage is filled, and each face is keyed back to a flat base.
PRIME AND SPRAY
A primer matched to the substrate goes on, then colour is built in thin, even coats.
TOPCOAT
The chosen topcoat is sprayed, flatted between coats and checked under raking light.
CURE AND DELIVER
Every piece cures fully in our workshop, then comes back, is refitted and realigned.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT FURNITURE PAINTING DUBAI
How much does it cost to paint kitchen cabinets in Dubai?
A standard kitchen respray runs about AED 9,000 to 16,000 and a large or villa kitchen AED 16,000 to 22,000, against AED 25,000 to 60,000 for a comparable new kitchen. Priced per door it works out around AED 350 to 750 depending on size, profile and finish. What moves the number is preparation rather than paint: a laminate or melamine front needs a bonding primer and more keying than a solid or MDF door, and a high-gloss finish needs more filling and flatting than a matte one.
Can laminate or veneer furniture be painted?
Yes, both, with different preparation. Laminate is slick and non-porous, so it needs thorough abrasion and a bonding primer; paint applied straight onto it will peel off in sheets within a year. Veneer paints beautifully provided the sheet is sound and has not lifted or bubbled at the edges, and where it has we re-lay or patch it first. The one case we decline is chipboard that has swollen with water, because there is no preparation that makes a swollen edge flat again.
Is it cheaper to repaint or replace a wardrobe?
Repainting, in almost every case. Wardrobe fronts run AED 350 to 750 per door against roughly AED 1,100 per square metre of face for a new fitted wardrobe, so a four-door run is typically a third of the replacement cost and keeps the carcass, the internal fit-out and the hanging rails you already have. Replacing wins when the carcass itself is failing, when the internal layout no longer suits you, or when the doors are so damaged that new fronts cost less than repairing the old ones.
Do you collect the furniture or paint it on site?
Both, and which one depends on the piece. Loose furniture — tables, chairs, sideboards, bed frames, internal doors — is collected, sprayed in our Ras Al Khor workshop and delivered back, because a booth gives a cleaner finish than any room can. Fixed joinery such as built-in wardrobes and kitchen carcasses is painted in place with masking, extraction and low-odour systems. On a kitchen we do both: the doors come to the workshop, the carcasses are sprayed in situ.
How long does a furniture painting job take?
A single piece is usually three to five working days including proper curing. A full kitchen respray is four to seven working days, and a fitted wardrobe run two to four. Curing is the part that cannot be rushed: a PU lacquer is touch-dry in hours and fully hard in days, and refitting doors before it has cured is how fingerprints end up in the finish permanently.
Will the colour match exactly what I choose?
We mix to a physical reference and spray a sample panel for you to approve before committing the job. That sample is the contract. What we will not promise is that a colour looks identical in your room and in our workshop — light changes it, which is exactly why we hand you the panel to look at in the actual space first.
Can you change dark wood to light wood?
Yes, and it is the most requested direction in Dubai. There are two routes. Stripping and bleaching back keeps the grain visible and suits real oak or walnut; it is the more expensive option and the better-looking one. Spraying an opaque light colour covers the grain completely and suits veneer over chipboard where the timber has nothing worth showing. We will tell you which your piece deserves.
Do you repaint outdoor and garden furniture?
Yes, with a system built for UV and heat rather than an indoor lacquer used outside. Timber gets an exterior-grade stain or coating, metal furniture is cut back to sound material, etch-primed and topcoated, and rattan and wicker is sprayed rather than brushed because no brush reaches into a weave. All three last if the preparation is done properly and fail within a season if it is not.
Can you repair a scratch or a chip without repainting the whole piece?
Often, yes. A scratch through the lacquer into timber can be filled, grain-matched and spot-finished so it disappears at normal viewing distance. A chip on a flat painted face usually needs the whole face resprayed, because a spot repair on a large flat panel is visible in raking light no matter how carefully it is done. Send a close-up photo and we will tell you which it is before you commit.
What is the difference between PU lacquer and duco?
PU is a two-pack polyurethane: very hard, scratch-resistant and the right choice for anything handled daily such as kitchens, wardrobes and desks. Duco is a smooth opaque colour-matched spray system prized for a seamless modern face. In practice most Dubai jobs are specified as PU in a chosen sheen, and we recommend by how the piece is used rather than by which name sounds better.
Do you use low-odour paints so we can stay in the property?
Yes. Water-based PU has improved enough that we now use it by default for on-site work in occupied homes and offices, so a room is usable the next morning rather than the next week. Solvent-based systems are kept for the workshop, where extraction deals with them properly. If anyone in the property is particularly sensitive, tell us at the survey and we will specify accordingly.
How do I get a quotation?
Send photographs on WhatsApp to 056-5608073 — the whole piece, a close-up of the surface and one showing an edge or a join. That is usually enough for us to price a single item the same day. For kitchens, fitted wardrobes and anything we cannot judge from a picture, a free site visit follows and you get a written scope with a fixed price against it before anything is collected.
